Summary

Smart Ad Placer for YouTube does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data. The extension has no server, no analytics, no telemetry, and makes no network requests of its own. Everything it does happens locally in your browser.

What the extension accesses

The extension runs only on pages under https://studio.youtube.com/. It requests no access to any other website. On that domain, and only while you are using the mid-roll ad-break editor, it reads:

• the audio waveform data that YouTube Studio already renders in the video editor, in order to detect silences;
• the list of existing ad breaks shown in the editor, including which of them YouTube has flagged as interruptive.

This data is read in memory, used to compute ad-break positions, and discarded. It is never written to disk beyond what is described below, and never leaves your computer.

What the extension stores

Two things, both on your own machine:

• Your settings — target interval between ads, silence threshold, snap tolerance, ads per gap, and the size and position of the panel. Stored with chrome.storage.sync, which means Chrome may sync them between your own signed-in Chrome installations through your Google account. They are not visible to us or to anyone else.
• Per-video banned spots — the timestamps that YouTube flagged as interruptive for a given video, so the extension does not propose them again. Stored with chrome.storage.local, on your machine only.

Neither contains personal information. You can erase all of it at any time by removing the extension, or clear the banned spots for a video with the ✕ button in the panel.

What the extension does not do

• It does not collect personally identifiable information, credentials, financial information, health information, location, browsing history, or the contents of your communications.
• It does not download, upload, or process your video files.
• It does not contact any server, ours or anyone else's.
• It does not load or execute remote code.
• It does not show ads, and it does not monetise your data in any way.

Third parties

There are none. No data is shared with any third party, because no data is ever collected.

Changes to this policy

If the extension ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised before the change ships.
